June is Pride Month

In recognition of June being pride month, here is a reminder of our benefits.

Our fertility vendor Progyny supports all paths to parenthood and provides an equitable family building benefit by removing barriers to treatment and ensuring that everybody can pursue their dreams of family. This inclusive family building benefit is accessible to LGBTQ+ individuals and couples to help them get started on their family building journey. As a reminder, our fertility benefits through Progyny are only available to those enrolled in our medical plan. Progyny will also host a webinar: Let’s Talk About Male Infertility on June 15th at 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm ET, to highlight an important conversation about male reproductive health and what you need to know about fertility. Our parental support vendor Maven offers holistic support to you and your partner at every stage of your family-building journey including 24/7 support from inclusive, gender-affirming providers and Care Advocates. In celebration of Pride Month, Maven will host a Maven Moments Session webinar on June 28th at 12:00 pm focused on paths to parenthood for LGBTQIA+ prospective parents. This is available to all regardless of being enrolled in one of SMP’s offered medical plan.

Our medical carrier Anthem equally ensures members of the LGBTQIA+ community receive care that meets their needs physically, mentally, and socially. Our inclusive benefits through Anthem are delivered in a manner that makes each member feel seen, welcomed, and respected. Care navigation for both physical and behavioral health is also provided in addition to support in finding providers who are LGBTQIA+- friendly, competent, and subject matter experts.
Members are provided with toolkits that contain information and resources to provide support across LGBTQIA+ needs on various issues such coming out at work, supporting family members or locating community resources. Centers of Excellence (COE) also provides family support and specialty care in gender affirmation surgery with virtual second opinion, including travel benefits. The LGBTQIA+ community also has access to a multidisciplinary team of Plastic Surgery, Infectious Disease, and Behavioral Health experts.
