2026 SMP Wellness Program: Complete by October 15
All employees (and enrolled spouses, if applicable) participating in an SMP-sponsored medical plan must each complete the annual Wellness Program requirement by October 15, 2026.
Failure to meet the October 15, 2026 deadline will result in a $600 premium increase in 2027. To satisfy the Wellness Program requirement, you only need to complete one activity during the eligible timeframe.
Required Activity (Claims-Based):
- Annual Preventive Exam
- Or Well Woman Exam (if applicable)
Claims-based means that once your provider submits the preventive exam claim using your Anthem insurance, your completion will automatically be recorded and reflected in the Anthem member portal and Sydney app. No additional forms or online submissions are required.
Tips to Avoid the 2027 Surcharge:
- Complete your 2026 Wellness Program requirement before the deadline.
- Be aware that claims may take up to 60 days to display on the portal.
- Avoid scheduling last-minute appointments.
- Confirm with your provider that your visit is coded as a “preventive exam” only.
Important Reminders:
- The Wellness Program applies only to employees and enrolled spouses; dependent children are not required to participate.
- The eligible date of service window is October 16, 2025 through October 15, 2026.
- Our medical plan allows for one annual physical per year and does not require 12 months between appointments.
- No biometric form is required.
- Employees hired on or after July 15, 2026 do not need to complete the Wellness Program.
