Hinge Health Virtual Physical Therapy

At SMP, we’re always looking for new ways to support your health and well-being. That’s why we’re introducing Hinge Health, SMP’s new partner in virtual physical therapy, in 2026.

The program is designed to address chronic back, knee, hip, neck, or shoulder pain, as well as women’s pelvic health and menopause support. Clinical studies show that Hinge Health helps members relieve their back and joint pain, improve their mental wellbeing, and reduce their interest in surgery.¹

With Hinge Health, you can skip the copays and office visits and receive:

Unlimited exercises and stretches developed for you by physical therapists

A dedicated physical therapist, coach, and more available via text, email, phone call, or video chat

Convenient exercise sessions that can be done in about 15 minutes or less

Eligibility

If you are enrolled in a Standard Motor Products medical plan, you and your covered family members, age 18 and older, are eligible for Hinge Health support.

  • Neck and upper back
  • Shoulders
  • Elbows, forearms, wrists, and hands
  • Lower back and hips
  • Pelvic region
  • Thighs and knees
  • Shins and calves
  • Ankles and feet

Is there really no cost to use Hinge Health? How?

Yes. SMP covers the cost of the program.

Who is eligible to join? What do I have to do to join?

You and your spouse/partner and dependents ages 18+ are eligible to join as long as you are enrolled in an SMP medical plan. Hinge Health will ask you to fill out a questionnaire (it takes about 10 minutes). Hinge Health will then create your account and make sure the Hinge Health program is a good fit for you.

What’s expected of me if I join?

Hinge asks you to commit 15 minutes at least 3 times a week to reduce your pain. You can always do your exercises every day if you like; in fact, many members do because they find it controls their pain better.

Who is my care team?

Your care team includes a dedicated physical therapist who will help fine tune your care plan and conduct virtual physical therapy sessions if needed. Members who are treated for chronic pain (pain that lasts or recurs for 3+ months) get 1-on-1 coaching and support from a certified health coach.

Keep an eye out for more information from Hinge Health before the end of the year. Before January 1, 2026, eligible employees can join the waitlist by visiting hinge.health/smpcorp until enrollment is open in 2026.

Once enrollment is open, you can expect to complete the following steps:

  1. Tell Hinge about yourself. Complete a 10-minute questionnaire to open your account and tell us about your experience with pain. Once your account is approved, you can log into the app.
  2. Help Hinge build your care plan. Download the Hinge Health app and log in to your account. Then, do a few exercises so Hinge can learn about your pain. This allows them to design the right care plan to help you do more every day, with less pain.
  3. Start your program and start feeling better! As your pain improves, so does your care plan—with new exercises and tools to help you move with confidence.
